The Membrane Switch keypads are made in different Plastic Film material and double side adhesive with graphic printing and printed electronic circuit.

What's a membrane switch?

A membrane switch, also called a membrane keyboard or membrane keypad, is a switching device comprised of a series of flexible layers of polymer films and adhesives.

The upper layer of a membrane switch panel is typically called a graphic overlay, and is produced by printing on the second surface of clear polyester or polycarbonate film. The circuitry is created by screen printing conductive silver ink.

Tactile devices can easily be incorporated into the membrane switch to provide feedback to the operator that the switch has been activated. Other electronic components can be implemented, as well, such as discrete LEDs, backlighting sources, and connectors that make membrane switches easy to integrate into other systems or devices.

Mainly PC (Polycarbonate) on different thickness (150, 180, 200, 250μm).

Can also be polyester (PET).

Printing technologies

  • Silk screen printing.

Adhesive spacer

  • Double sided tape adhesive enables to assemble the different layer of the membrane.
  • Thickness between 0.05 and 1.15mm.

Dome retainer

  • Used to fix material domes position in the membrane.
  • Thickness between 0.05 and 0.175mm.

Circuit layer

  • 2 Possible materials: PET or FPC.
  • If PET,circuit is silk creen printed with silver paste.
  • Common circuit thickness: 0.125mm.
