COG

COG, or Chip-On-Glass, is a type of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology where the driver IC (Integrated Circuit) is mounted directly on the glass substrate, eliminating the need for a flexible printed circuit (FPC) connector. This results in a more compact and thinner LCD module, as well as improved reliability and durability due to the reduced number of components. COG is commonly used in small and portable devices such as smartphones, digital cameras, and MP3 players, where space and power efficiency are important considerations.

COF

In COF (Chip-on-Film) LCDs, the thin-film transistor (TFT) array and other components are integrated onto a single substrate (film), which is then mounted on the back of the display panel. This configuration allows for a thinner, lighter, and more compact display device. COF LCDs also offer improved performance compared to traditional LCDs, as the TFT array is closer to the liquid crystal layer, reducing image degradation caused by electrical interference.

TAB

In TAB (Tape Automated Bonding) LCDs, the thin-film transistor (TFT) array and other components are integrated onto a flexible tape, which is then bonded to the back of the display panel. This configuration allows for a thinner, lighter, and more compact display device, as well as improved electrical performance compared to traditional LCDs. The TAB process also provides a higher degree of precision in the placement of the components on the display, resulting in improved image quality. However, TAB technology has largely been replaced by more advanced display technologies such as COF (Chip-on-Film) and COG (Chip-on-Glass).

COB

In COB (Chip-on-Board) LCDs, the thin-film transistor (TFT) array and other components are integrated directly onto the back of the display panel. This configuration results in a compact and low-cost display device, as the TFT array and other components are physically close to the liquid crystal layer, reducing the length of the electrical connections. However, COB technology has largely been replaced by more advanced display technologies such as COF (Chip-on-Film) and COG (Chip-on-Glass), which offer improved image quality and electrical performance.
